New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) Defence sector major Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) will supply mining equipment worth Rs 477 crore to Steel Authority of India Ltd.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between the public sector undertakings. V K Gulhati, Director (Technical), SAIL and M Poongavanam, Director (Mining and Construction) signed the MoU.
As per the terms and scope of the MoU, SAIL will purchase a total of 261 mining equipment over the next three years.
The various equipments to be bought by SAIL include dumpers, dozers, motor graders, high-end hydraulic excavators and tyre handlers.
The estimated value of these equipments is pegged at Rs 477 crore.
In addition, the agreement also provides for the maintenance contract of the fleet of equipment to be supplied.
The two PSUs have mutually agreed to work on a 11-year term during which, BEML will supply equipment up to 2011 to the biggest steel producer of the country. BEML will also undertake maintenance and repair contract for the next eight years.
