Woman murdered, servants body found in Ropar

Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) A 35-year old woman was allegedly murdered in her Sector-38 house here last night, while the body of her domestic help was found in Ropar town of Punjab this morning.

Police sources said here today that Anurandha, wife of a property dealer, was attacked with sharp edged weapons and killed at her house. Her body was discovered by her children this morning.

According to the police, the children were asleep in another room while her husband was away from home. The surviving family members suspected the servant to be behind the crime.

However, the Punjab Police found the servant's body near a canal close to the bus stand in Ropar this morning. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the man had been strangulated to death.

On the base's of certain items recovered from the dead man, the police contacted their counterparts in Chandigarh. The body was later identified as the domestic help who worked in the house of the dead woman.

Murder cases had been registered at Chandigarh and at Ropar and investigations had been jointly launched by the UT and Punjab Police to trace the actual culprits and the motive behind the double murder.
