Chandigarh, May 18 (UNI) A 35-year old woman was allegedly murdered in her sector-38 house last night, while the dead body of her domestic help was found in Ropar town of Punjab this morning.
Police sources said here today Anuradha, wife of Baljinder Singh Sandhu, a property dealer, was attacked with sharp edged weapons and killed at her house while she was asleep. Her dead body was discovered by her children.
According to the police, the children were asleep in another room while her husband was away. The surviving family members suspected the servant, Vijay Pal, to be behind the crime.
However, the Punjab Police found the dead body of domestic help Vijay near the Sirhind Canal, close to the bus stand in Ropar this morning. The victims face was disfigured. His hands were tied behind his back and a cloth covered his mouth.
According to the Ropar Police, a mobile phone along with an identity card and a PAN card were found from Vijay's pockets and Rs 650.
On the basis of the items recovered from the dead man the police contacted their counterparts in Chandigarh. The dead body was later identified as that of the 'missing' Vijay, who had worked in the house of the dead woman at Chandigarh for the last 12 years.
Meanwhile, the father of Vijay, who reached Ropar from his village near Malout in Punjab, alleged that Baljinder Singh Sandhu was behind the murder of his son. He claimed that his son had seen Sandhu killed Anuradha, as the husband and wife did not enjoy good relations.
Murder cases have been registered at Chandigarh and at Ropar and investigations were being jointly conducted by the UT and Punjab Police.
