Pune, May 18 (UNI) Maharashtra grapplers are gearing up with the intention of garnering the maximum number of medals in the third edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) that will get under way at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex near here, from October 13 to 16, International referee and venue manager for CYG Vilas Kathure said, here today.
Mr Kathure gave a presentation on wrestling, under the aegis of the Pune Press Club. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Suresh Kalmadi, whose efforts resulted in inclusion of wrestling in the CYG 2008, was also present during the presentation.
Earlier, presentations were held on Athletics, Boxing, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming and Weightlifting. The presentation for shooting will be held next Sunday.
Mr Kathure said that the grapplers from Maharashtra have always made the most in the Commonwealth Games wrestling discipline and will hopefully do so this time too.
