Sachin looks to continue winning momentum

By Staff

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) Mumbai Indians skipper Sachin Tendulkar today said his team wanted to keep up the momentum of winning by defeating hosts Deccan Chargers in their league outing of the DLF Indian Premier League here tomorrow.

''There will be pressure on all the teams. Some have won consecutively and some have lost successive matches and later game back into the game,'' he told reporters here this evening ahead of the match. A win will enhance Mumbai Indians chances of gaining a semifinal berth.

Describing veteran Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasurya, as ''a great batsman and an exceptional player'', Sachin said he played a vital role in securing an eight-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders last night.

He was getting valuable inputs from Jayasurya and Pollock on the field, Sachin said.

Team Mumbai have come back into reckoning after suffering four losses in succession earlier. ''We have always been confident of coming back into the game'', he added.

Sachin also praised the domestic players for their ''terrific performance'' in the tourney. ''The T20 version is really exciting and challenging. It is a great thing to play along with great players''.

Meanwhile, Deccan Chargers stand-in skipper Adam Gilchrist said it was disappointing to lose chances of getting into the semifinals.

''We will use rest of the games to prepare for the next edition of the IPL'', he added.
