Jammu, May 17: Hopeful of restoration of peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said, ''This state can 'emerge' as one of the best tourist destinations in the country.''
Mr Kamat after paying obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine at Katra and interacting with mediapersons here yesterday said, ''There is a vast scope for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir and once the situation is normal here, Jammu and Kashmir can appear as one of the best tourist destinations in the country leaving Goa aside.'' However, Mr Kamat would meet Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today at Srinagar and discuss plans to woo tourism in the state and in Goa.
''We will discuss tourism policy with Mr Azad to attract more tourists here in Jammu and Kashmir and in Goa as well,'' Mr Kamat said adding that this would help in enhancing the tourism economy of both the places.
Accompanied by his Guru Acharya Pramodji Maharaj, Mr Kamat is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
