Inflation would impact poll prospects of Congress: Anil Shastri
Indore, May 17 (UNI) All Indian Congress Committee member Anil Shastri today agreed that the party would have to pay price if inflation was not controlled but raised question on the BJP-ruled states for not taking action against hoarders.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Shastri admitted that the inflation would have direct impact on the poll prospects of the party.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked the Prime Minister to take effective steps to control inflation.
However, he expressed hope that the inflation would be checked.
Alleging that the BJP-ruled states were not taking action against hoarders, Mr Shastri said it was clear that the BJP wanted to derive political benefits and was not concerned about the plight of people.
He said he agreed with US President George Bush's statement that increase in purchasing power and consumption of middle class in India has led to inflation.
