Puducherry, May 16 (UNI) Puducherry Social Welfare Minister M Kandasamy today exhorted the Congress workers to work unitedly to bring the Party back to power on its own again in Puducherry.
Inaugurating a meeting of the Scheduled Caste wing of the Congress at the PCC office here, Mr Kandasamy said he was not the minister for SC people alone and was evolving schemes for the welfare of all sections of the society.
He said several schemes could not be implemented by the Social Welfare Department due to lack of funds. An additional Rs 26 crore was required for the implementation of the schemes, he added.
However, he assured that all the schemes would be implemented after the Chief Minister released the funds.
Mr Kandasamy said the funds under the Special Component Plan (SCP) would be utilised initially for the uplift of the Adi Dravidar people, living below poverty line.
A survey in this regard would be conducted in all rural areas of the Union Territory from next month, he added.
