Security at Eden strengthend before Kolkata-Chennai match

By Staff

Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) Police Commissioner Gautam Mohan Chakraborty today said the security arrangement at Eden Gardens is being beefed up before the Kolkata-Chennai match on Sunday in view of recent blasts in Jaipur.

After visiting Eden Gardens during the day, the city police chief also appealed to cricket fans to come well before the match start at 4 pm so that securitymen have time for frisking and checking at gates.

He told reporters that the security system would be intensified as the administration was not taking any chance since the bloody bombings in Jaipur, also a venue of IPL match, that killed over 60 people.

Usually, no cricket fan is allowed to carry any bag and packet at Eden and the prohibition will be strictly followed during Sunday's day and night match.

Special security was also provided to visiting Chennai Super King, who arrived here yesterday.

Meanwhile, demands for low price tickets- Rs 110 and 220 were on high as counters went dry soon after selling started today.
