Gangtok, May 16 (UNI) Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today claimed that the peace and security prevailing in the State was the biggest achievement of his 14-year-old government and attributed it to his party's ''positive politics''.
''The people of our state have achieved peace and security as a result of our policy of positive politics in the past 14 years. The Sikkim government has proved to be an example to the country on positive politics,'' Mr Chamling said here during the State Day celebrations.
He alleged that other states had been adopting negative politics by projecting the Centre as the ''villain'' and blaming the Union government for their failure.
Mr Chamling said his government had been placing its demands before the Centre through positive politics.
''We have always placed our demands scientifically and constitutionally,'' he said.
Highlighting the growing influence of Sikkim in the Northeastern region, the Chief Minister said Sikkim was leading the way for all other NE states in the field of development.
Elaborating on the achievements and targets of his government, Mr Chamling claimed that Sikkim would achieve the number one position in the economic front by 2015 through the revenue generated from hydropower.
The Chief Minister also said efforts were on to get tribal status for all Sikkim subject holders.
