Bucannan admits to game plans not working against Mumbai Indians

By Staff

Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) Kolkata Knight Riders coach John Buccanan today admitted that the game plans they had drawn up failed miserably against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium here today.

Speaking to the media after they suffered a massive right wicket loss, Buccanan, however, said credit should be given to the Mumbai Indians especially Pollock who was exceptional during our innings.

''We now have to regroup and look forward to playing well against the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday,'' Buccanan added.

The former Australian coach also said this defeat has set us back in regards to the net run rate which is likely to come into play with three teams fighting for the fourth semi final spot.

The Mumbai Indians pace spearhead Shaun Pollock, who was named man of the match for his 3-12 in four overs, said after a bad beginning the boys are now gelling well together. There are good vibes in the team and with Sachin back into the team has given us a good boost with all the guys rising to the occasion.

Pollock, however, said they were not yet thinking of the semifinals yet and were taking one game at a time.

Speaking about today's game, Pollock said the wicket suited our bowlers perfectly. Our bowlers do not have express pace, but can do a bit with the ball and in these conditions they thrive. With Sachin winning the toss, the whole match was set up well for us and after the initial breakthroughs we kept the pressure on them and did not let up.
