2 Tripura resident arrested with fake notes

Agartala, May 15: The BSF today handed two persons, who were detained near Bangladesh border in Matinagar of West Tripura with some fake Indian currencies last evening, to the police.

Police said the BSF troops had detained Majloo Mian (22) and Md Noorul Islam (23) at the border with Rs 100,000 fake Indian currency notes of 500 denominations.

The CID officials have revealed that one Mintu Mian (45) of Matinagar was the main kingpin of the racket and brought the notes from a Bangladeshi national of Dhwaja Nagar under Kasba police station in Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh.

The arrested have also confessed that these notes were to be further circulated in hinterland.

Meanwhile, the BSF officials stated security has been beefed up near the border and operation launched to nab others involved in the crime.
