Railway employee caught taking bribe
Nagpur, May 15 (UNI) CBI Sleuths nabbed a section engineer of the South-East Central Railway (SECR) red-handed, accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a contractor, near here.
Satishchandra Tiwari was nabbed from his residential quarters at Nagbhir, near here, while accepting the cash from the complainant, Chandrakumar Singh, a contractor, official sources said.
According to Singh's complaint, he has a contract for carrying out some excavation work on SECR land. He is dumping soil from the excavation on land belonging to SECR itself, for which he has the necessary approval. However, Tiwari was harassing him for the same and had demanded Rs 25,000 as bribe to continue to allow him to do so, Singh said.
Singh agreed to pay Rs 15,000 to Tiwari yesterday, and lodged a complaint with the CBI.
Tiwari first called Singh to his office, and later took him to his residential quarters, where he accepted the money, the sources added.
