Shimla, May 15 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta said a two-day National Seminar will be organised by the National Horticulture Board (NHB) for fruit growers of the state in Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry at Nauni in Solan district in the last week of May.

He was addressing a meeting which was held here yesterday to review the preparations for the seminar.

Mr Bragta said common problems of the fruit growers of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir would be discussed in the seminar and the deliberations would be further taken up at the conference of Horticulture Ministers of Himalayan States likely to be organised in the month of June at Shimla.

He also informed that the recommendations of the Conference of Ministers would be referred to the NHB for Government of India for solution of the problems of fruit growers of the Himalayan states.

Since the four states have similar topography, the problems of fruit growers were same and the principle objective of holding the seminar and the conference is to strengthen their economic base besides providing them self-employment avenues, he added.

He said holding of the seminar and the conference will be a historical beginning for redressal of horticulture problems and preparing for global competition on the basis of a common strategy.
