Cong complains to Gov on 'assault' by ex-Minister
Bangalore, May 15 (UNI) Fearing the BJP would allegedly perpetrate a 'blood bath' in the politically volatile Bellary, the Congress today urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to order the arrest of Former Minister Sriramulu who allegedly physically assaulted a Congress worker.
A Congress delegation met the Governor and explained incident in the mining town and said the BJP, desperate after realising that it would lose the Assembly elections, had unleashed terror against Congress workers in the district.
After emerging from the Rajbhavan, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary Prakash Rathod, MLC, who led the delegation alleged Mr Sriramulu had brutally assaulted a senior worker, Venkata Rao, in Bellary today.
They accused the local police of not taking action against the BJP leader and said they had failed to arrest him despite 'knowing' his whereabouts.
The BJP is now desperate. It has realised that it will lose badly in the ongoing elections.
The delegation appealed to the Governor to give appropriate directions to the police authorities to take action against the culprits and arrest them, creating a suitable atmosphere for free and fair polls in the coming two phases.
