Capt Chaitanya's bail plea rejected

Jammu, May 15 (UNI) A local court has rejected the bail application of Captain Chaitanya Bhatawadekar, husband of army officer Captain Megha Razdan, who was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at her army quarters on July 1.

The IInd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, observed that the evidence oral as well as documentary, collected so far revealed a link between the crime and the petitioner, hence the bail application filed by the father of accused was rejected here yesterday.

The sufficient aspects of investigation and the cell phone record of the petitioner and Seema Kulkarni, who is projected to be the central figure in matrimonial discord of the petitioner and deceased, apart from injury marks on the throat of Razdan, are against the petitioner, the Court said.

However, a suicide note downloaded from the seized laptops of the petitioner and deceased, is under scrutiny and the final opinion on this is still to come, the Court further observed.

All these aspects indicate that the petitioner's detention is necessary not only because the accusation is severe but also because of the fact that investigation is in a very crucial phase, the Court observed and dismissed the bail application of Captain Chaitanya.

Capt Mega Razdan (26) of Engineers regiment was found hanging from a ceiling with a bed-sheet in a room of her official residence at Kunjawani on July 1.
