Bhopal, May 15: Madhya Pradesh Governor Balram Jakhar has sought investment by Canadian industrialists in agriculture and farm-related industries in the state.
''There are strong possibilities of investment in agriculture and related sector and Canadian investors should be inspired to invest in Madhya Pradesh'', the Governor told Canadian High Commissioner in India David Moran, who paid a courtesy call on Mr Jakhar at the Raj Bhavan here yesterday.
The High Commissioner also assured to consider the Governor's suggestion, official sources said.
The Governor also recalled the social and economic relations between India and Canada particularly through the efforts of farmers from Punjab. There are ample possibilities of generating employment based on tourism in the state, he added while referring to the state's tourist destinations like Gwalior, Orchha, Sanchi, Indore and Mandu.
Mr Moran also praised the efforts of preserving Rajwada built by Holkars at Indore, construction of roads and lodging arrangements at Sanchi and historic and cultural preservation work undertaken at Orchha.
