Ahmedabad, May 15: An anonymous phone call saying a bomb was planted in the premises of Iron Exchange of India at Ankleshwar GIDC which kept local police and dog squad on their toes today turned out to be a hoax.

According to Ankleswar GIDC police in South Gujarat, the caller told the manager of Iron Exchange of India that a bomb was planted in the premises of the company. The manager informed the police which swung into action. A bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were immediately pressed into service and the occupants were told to vacate the premises.

The call, however, turned out to be a hoax after nothing suspicious was found during the search operation.

Police have filed a complaint against the anonymous caller. The call was made from a STD-PCO Booth and its owner was questioned by police.

Possibility of the call being made by some former employee of the company cannot be ruled out, police said.
