BJP alone can deliver Telangana: Rajnath
Hyderabad, May 15 (UNI) Asserting that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance could alone create a separate Telangana state, party president Rajnath Singh today asked the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), an estranged ally of the Congress, to ponder over how it could realise statehood for Telangana without the BJP's support.
''The anti-Telangana face of the Congress has thoroughly been exposed, as four years after coming to power, the Congress-led UPA government is yet to find the appropriate time promised in its Common Minimum Programme for creation of separate Telangana state,'' Mr Singh claimed at a press conference here.
The TRS owed an explanation to the people how it could achieve Telangana without the support of the BJP, he underlined.
Although,
the
BJP
had
promised
to
support
any
move
by
the
UPA
regime
to
create
Telangana
state,
the
UPA
never
showed
an
inclination
to
bring
the
Telangana
bill
in
Parliament,
he
recalled,
adding
''I
myself
have
expressed
BJP's
favourable
opinion
on
the
issue
many
times
and
on
different
platforms.'' Stating
that
''the
BJP
is
sincerely
committed
to
create
Telangana,
he
said
''I
assure
the
country
that
the
appropriate
time
to
create
Telangana
will
come
only
when
the
BJP-led
NDA
comes
to
power
at
the
Centre.''
