BDO and assistant clerk arrested with bribe
Samastipur, May 15 (UNI) In a major success, state vigilance sleuths today arrested the Shivaji Nagar Block Development Officer(BDO) and an assistant clerk of Provident Fund office in the district while accepting bribes.
Official sources said Tapeshwar Singh, Mukhiya of Shankarpur panchayat, had complained to the vigilance department that BDO Tanwirul Qamar was demanding Rs one lakh to clear the sanctioned amount under Indra Awas Yojna and Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna.
The sleuths laid a trap and arrested the BDO from his house at Dharampur mohalla under Mufossil police station while accepting an advance payment of Rs 50,000 this morning.
The sleuths also arrested Purnendu Chaudhary, an assistant clerk of the Provident Fund office here, while accepting a bribe of Rs 3200 from a lady teacher's son to clear her PF dues.
The arrested officials would be produced in the special vigilance court at the bureau headquarters in Patna.
