Security tightened in Mysore, tourist places

Mysore, May 14 (UNI) Security has been tightened at all strategic locations in and around the city, which is attracting a large number of tourists, in the wake of the serial blasts that shook the Jaipur City yesterday.

City Police Commissioner P Ravindranath told reporters here today the security had been doubled at the entrance to the world famous Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens and St Philomena Church.

Stating extra police vigil had been ordered on passengers arriving from outside the city at various bus stands and the Railway Stations, he said a number of armed police personnel had also been deployed at prime locations.

The Police Commissioner assured the citizens of the city that there was no need for them to be scared as the police was fully geared to meet any contingency threatening peace and security in the city.

Security has also been strengthened at Gumbaz, Dariya Daulat, Nimishambha Temple, Sriranagapattana Fort, Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple and other tourist destinations in Mandya District where the tourists throng in large nmbers.

The Karnataka State Reserve Police have been stationed at the Krishnaraja Sagar Reservoir near here.
