Security tightened around city and its tourist places
Mysore, May 14 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at all strategic locations in and around the city, which is attracting a large number of tourists, in the wake of the serial blasts that shook Jaipur city yesterday.
City police Commissioner P Ravindranath told reporters that the security has been doubled at the entrance of the world famous Mysore palace, Chamundi hills, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, and St Phnilomena Church.
Stating that extra police vigil has been ordered on the passengers arriving from outside the city at various bus stands and the Railway stations he said that a number of armed police personnel have also been deployed at prime locations.
The police Commissioner assured the citizens of the city that there was no need for the people to be scared as the police was fully geared to meet any contigency threatening peace and security in the city.
Security has also been strengthended at Gumbaz, Dariya Daulat, Nimishambha temple, Sriranagapattana fort, Sri Ranganthaswamy temple and other tourist destinations in Mandya district where the tourists throng in large nmbers.
Meanwhile additional police forces has been strenthened with depolyment of Karnataka State Reserve Police to the Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir near here.
