Security at Kanaka Durga temple tightened
Vijayawada, May 14 (UNI) Security at the famed Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri hill here has been strengthened in the wake of yesterday's serial blasts in Jaipur.
Temple sources told UNI here that apart from the existing ten-member Special Protection Force, 32 private security guards and 14 Home Guards, were posted at the sanctum sanctorum inside the temple.
Police also agreed to deploy their personnel at the temple for tightening the security, sources said.
Announcements were being made through the public address system asking the devotees not to carry bags while entering the temple, sources said and added that worshippers were being frisked before allowing them inside the temple.
Security has been stepped up at the Vijayawada railway station.
Railway Protection Force and Railway Police personnel, besdies scanning the baggages of passengers, were closely watching the movements of travellers.
Hightened security measures were taken at sensitive places in the city.
