Shillong, May 14 : Music connoisseurs in Shillong swing to the tunes of melodious love songs of 80s and 90s at a concert held here recently.

The most cherished segment of the musical extravaganza was the melodiousove songs rendered by "The Colours", a musical group.

A conglomerate of artistes including prolific ones like Lou Majaw, Stacy, Marcus, Savio, Pyndap, Rilang, Desmond and others performed.

For the people of Shillong, better known as the Scotland of the East, music has been the eternal love.

Audience enjoyed every minute of the concert that left them spell bounded.

"For me it's a great influence. I think I grew last part of my life was during the 80's and 90's and music always had influence on me," said Kim Lyngdoh, a audience.

Shillong got its musical groove as a result of natural affinity of the locals to western cultural mores.

Audience rapt with attention wished that the songs of the immortal Jimeeves, Gordon McCray, Cliff Richards and Engelbert Humperdinck could have been featured in this concert.

The performances by the western bands in the hill station previously had somehow put the local talents on the back stage but the concert was an effort to bring out those latent talents to the forefront.
