Kathmandu, May 14: Maoist Chairman Prachanda given an ultimatum to Nepal's King Gyanendra to leave Narayanhiti Palace by May 27, a day before the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly, A media report said.

The parties have agreed to abolish monarchy and declare Nepal a federal Democratic Republic on the first day meeting of the Constituent Assembly on May 28. ''The King could face forceful eviction from the palace if he refuses to quit voluntarily,'' Nepal news quoted Mr Prachanda as saying in eastern Nepal. He made it clear that his party would not accept any form of monarchy. If the King cooperated with the political process, he would be given the rights enjoyed by ordinary citizens, Mr Prachanda added.

Not a single representative supporting monarchy could win a seat in the CA polls held last month.
