Siliguri/Kolkata, May 14 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today came down heavily on the CPI(M) for "terrorising" the Opposition workers and "preventing" them from exercising their democratic rights in the ongoing Panchayat elections.
Addressing an election meeting at Siliguri, Ms Banerjee alleged that the CPI(M) cadres had been indulging in massive rigging and booth capturing and assaulting the Trinamool candidates and supporters.
She also held the CPI(M) responsible for the largescale pre and post-poll violence throughout the state.
Opposition leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Assembly Partho Chatterjee said it was not possible to establish democracy in the state until the CPI(M) was dislodged from power.
He alleged that one of the party workers was killed at Itagachia village of Uluberia district, while several were injured at Bagnan, Barasat, Amta and Domjur area by the CPI(M) activists.
'' We have already demanded to the State Election Commissioner for repolling in Satgachia constituency, where the CPI(M) cadres have indulged in massive rigging, '' he said.
He alleged that the CPI(M) and police were jointly trying to liquidate the Trinamool Congress from the state.
The Left Front partner RSP should take a lesson from the Basanti incident, though the other partner Forward Bloc had failed to learn a lesson from the Dinhata incident, he said.
