Ashutosh goes down tamely as Indian challenge ends in SAIL Open

By Staff

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The Indian challenge ended in the 50,000 dollar ATP Challenger Series' SAIL Open as Ashutosh Singh bowed out with a straight-set loss in the second round to Colin Ebelthite of Australia.

Singh, who had surprised eighth seed Alexandre Kudryatsev of Russia in the opening round yesterday, went down 4-6 4-6 to Ebelthite in a rain-interrupted tie.

The Australian, who is ranked 234 in the world, more than 300 places above Singh, took the first set easily.

The Indian held his serve in the first game of the second set before the proceedings for more than two hours due to rain.

Ebelthite came out all guns blazing after the break, breaking the home favourite's serve to claim the tie.
