Admission to PG session of IIM stayed by Cal HC over OBC issue
Kolkata, May 14 (UNI) Indian Institute of Management,Calcutta, was mired in a fresh controversy as Calcutta High Court today stayed admission to post graduation session for nearly three weeks on an appeal by an aspiring candidate over the issue of admitting OBC candidates to the institute.
Justice Maharaja Sinha called for the Union Human Resource Development department notice, issued on April 11, asking the B-school to admit OBC candidates to the current post graduation session.
Justice Sinha ruled that no admission to the post graduation session to the institute be allowed till June 9, when the petition challenging the notification is to be heard.
Justice Sinha issued the ruling on a petition filed by a general candidate Sayan Guha, who got 98 per cent in CAT for admission to the pg session this year.
Meanwhile, the institute issued a notice for admission test for OBC candidates to the current session on May 15.
The matter would come up for hearing after the courrt's summer vacation.
