248 sportspersons get diplomas in Sports Coaching

Patiala, May 14 (UNI) Two hundred and fortyeight sportspersons were awarded diplomas at the graduation ceremony of the 45th NIS Course in Sports Coaching in seventeen sports disciplines here at the NIS this morning.

Former national gymnast, Gaurav Shah, was declared 'overall best student' among the boys, while Judoka Ruchi Auchitya topped amongst the girls.

In sports science, N Chaoba Singh (wrestling) topped the list in General Theory and Methods of Training; Karungegar Bhaskar (badminton) in Psychology; Siddhartha Sinnet (table tennis) in Biomechanics and Physiology and Ruchi Auchitya (judo) in Sports Medicine and Anthropometry.

Twelve students could not complete the Course successfully. 29 students secured 'A' grade, 204 got 'B' grade and 15 'C' grade.

Punjab Police IG (Patiala Range) CSR Reddy, who was the chief guest at the function, speaking on the occasion stressed on promoting sports at the grassroot level in a much bigger way to discourage the youth from taking drugs.
