Bhopal, May 14 (UNI) About 10,000 Argentineans in Buenos Aires lit candles for peace and a violence free society to mark the 53rd birthday of Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar yesterday, a statement said today.
Sri Sri, who is on a week-long tour of Argentina, noted that it was important to live our lives with sensitivity, serenity and sensibility. He was greeted by Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri and Indian Ambassador to Argentina Rengaraj Viswanathan.
A mutual cooperation agreement was signed between the Art of Living Foundation and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to work together to reduce violence in the streets and schools of Argentina, according to the statement issued by the foundation here.
Meanwhile, a blood donation camp was organised in Jaipur on the occasion.
Over 1,000 children and teenagers from several states committed to take part in the Art of Living's Mission Green Earth initiative at the Art of Living International Center at Bangalore.
In Kerala, the Art of Living launched the Project Green 2008 for resolving food crisis by promoting kitchen gardens and planting 'Laxmi Taru' trees.
In Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh, North East, Tamil Nadu, and others the Art of Living volunteers conducted eco-friendly drives, peace rallies, blood donation and medical camps, initiated restoration of ponds, adopted villages in backward areas and distributed clothes and food.
The Art of Living initiated many projects for plantations of trees and preservation of eco systems around the world, the statement added.
