Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) A red alert was declared in the financial capital of the country by the city police, while enhancing security across Maharashtra, following the serial blasts in Jaipur this evening.
Joint Commissioner of Police K L Parsad told UNI that an order for holding 'nakabandi' (road blockade) all over the metropolis was issued. The police had stepped up security at all important places in the city and the state by deputing plainclothes policemen.
Sources in the office of Director General of Police also said there is no immediate threat to the city and the state but as a precutionary measure, the police vigil has been increased.
Top police officials and senior police inspectors have been asked to remain present in their respective offices and police stations.
