Ministry urges NE states to develop tourism
Shillong, May 13 (UNI) The Union Tourism Ministry has asked the Northeastern states to explore ways to develop tourism.
Speaking at an interactive session on development of tourism in the North East, Secretary S Banerjee said the state governments of the region need to explore ways to develop tourism which has huge potential.
He also called for developing rural tourism by focusing on infrastructure known as 'Inclusive Tourism' by involving local communities.
The union secretary also urged all the NE states to utilise government funds for tourism development and improve infrastructure like road connectivity.
Joint Secretary in the Ministry Leena Nandan said the Centre had adopted initiatives to develop tourism in the entire region by emphasising on infrastructure development.
