Five Knights told to leave hotel

By Staff

Kolkata, May 13 (UNI) Kolkata Knight Riders today released five players who did not feature in the last eight games, from their roaster with immediate effect, team sources here said.

Coach John Buchanan asked the players- Ranadeb Bose, Sourashis Lahiri, Rohan Banerjee, Yashpal Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara to leave the hotel hours before KKR takes on Delhi in the IPL at Eden today.

Buchahan has conveyed the team management's decision that they were not required for KKR's remaining matches.

KKR was the second team after Mohali which decided not to have many players in the bench. Mohali cut their bench strength last week by asking nine players to leave the camp.

Team management, however, said that the relieved players would get their money as designed in the contract during auction.

They said since these five players had not been used it was better to release them for their other assignments.

Reacting to the development Ranadev Bose and Sourashis Lahiri said though they were keen to don IPL colours, yet they respected the team managment's decision. They vowed to return to the IPL in future with better deserving skills.
