Ashwin Sunder finishes 13th on debut

By Staff

New Delhi, May 13 (UNI) Indian prodigy Ashwin Sunder, driving for team Ma-Con, made a disappointing debut in the Formula Volkswagen ADAC series in Germany over the weekend as he finished 13th in the second race after he retired from the previous outing.

In the first race of the double-header Round One of the championship, for which he had qualified 10th, Ashwin moved to the seventh spot by the first corner when the car in front spun leading to a collision.

In the second race, the 18-year-old sensation was closing in on the top three when the gear knob came loose and fell inside the cockpit.

He lost precious time locating the knob and after having dropped nine places, he had to be content with the 13th position.

He had qualified fifth for the second race.

Ashwin, who last year won the Indian championship in Formula Swift and Hyundai classes, till now compete in round two of the series which will be run at the Nurburgring circuit May 22-24.
