Arunachal govt appoints City DC, SP

Itanagar, May 13: The Arunachal Pradesh government has appointed Mr Padmini Singla and Mr Hibu Tamang as the City Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) respectively of the Capital Complex.

Official sources said here today that Mr Bidol Tayeng will continue to hold the charge of the Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pare district, while former SP of Kurung Kumey Nabam Gungte will be the new SP of Papum Pare. He will hold the charge of Kurung Kumey till the completion of the Panchayat elections and the recruitment of constables, according to official orders.

As the DC had been dealing with 30 departments and district magistrate duties, he was unable to tour the interior areas.

Therefore, the concept of a City DC was approved by the Zilla Parishad twice, which ultimately received the government's approval.

With this, the development process would be expedited in the district with a population of 1,21,750 as per the 2001 census while the city, with around half of the district's population, would get adequate administrative and security attention.
