Srinagar, May 13 (UNI) Security and other arrangements for the prestigious national soccer tournament for the Santosh Trophy, to be held here from May 25, were finalised here today at a high level meeting.
Official sources said several decisions for smooth conduct of the tournament, last held here in 1978, were taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Secretary B R Kundal.
The meeting was attended among others by secretaries of different departments, police, fire service and Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) representatives.
It was decided to provide adequate security arrangements to all participating teams and other officials.
To regulate traffic movement during the tournament near venues, it was decided to deploy traffic police personnel while the fire and emergency department has been directed to deploy fire tenders.
The 22-day long tournament will commence from May 25 here with the inaugural match between host Jammu and Kashmir and Pondacharry.
As many as 31 teams from all over the country will participate in the tournament.
Meanwhile, two observers of All India Football Federation (AIFF) arrived here to take the stock of the arrangements made for the tournament.
They visited the Bakshi stadium and Polo ground main venues for the tournament and expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made for the matches.
