Three flights cancelled as water enters Port Blair runway
Chennai, May 12 (UNI) The Chennai-Port Blair Indian flight, which took off from the airport here was diverted back as water entered the runway there following heavy rains.
Airport sources said the flight, carrying 114 passengers, which took off at 0530 hrs landed back here at 1000 hrs as it could not land in Port Blair due to water logging.
The passengers were accomodated in hotels near the airport.
The Port Blair-bound Jet Airways and Deccan flights from here were also cancelled.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt Governor Bhopinder Singh, who came to board the Jet Airways bound for Port Blair, returned to the Andaman Guest House here following cancellation of the flight, the sources added.
