Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, May 12 (UNI) Minor Irrigation Minister Maganti Venkateswera Rao said that the renovation work of the Lingala Lift irrigation scheme, which would benefit 800 ryots and irrigate 600 acres in Biccavolu area in Anaparty assembly constituency, would be completed in a couple of months.
Addressing a function at Biccavolu after laying foundation stone for the renovation works last evening, he said the lift irrigation scheme would be fully operational by next Kharif.
He said the scheme would be named as Tetali Ramareddy lift irrigation scheme, in recognition of his relentless efforts for the revival of the scheme for the past one and a half decades.
Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose said Rs 3662 crore was earmarked for irrigation in the current year's budget.
If the Polavaram project is completed, over 27 lakh acres would come under assured irrigation, he added.
