Kapur finishes tied 17th at Italian Open

Milan, Italy, May 12 (UNI) Ace Indian golfer Shiv Kapur posted a creditable tied 17th finish at the European Tour's Methorios Capital Italian Open here.

Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) member Kapur's tournament total of fourteen under 274 was eleven shots adrift of the winner, South African Hennie Otto's overall score of twenty five under 263.

The Delhi youngster's (70, 65, 70, 69) final round effort of 69 included six birdies, a bogey and a double bogey. He started with a birdie on the first hole but subsequently lost momentum after dropping a bogey on the fourth and a double bogey on the seventh.

Kapur then had a flurry of birdies on the ninth, 12th, 15th, 17th and 18th.

The tied 17th finish in Italy is Kapur's second best result in 2008 so far. His best finish this year has been tied fifth at the Johnnie Walker Classic in India.

Meanwhile in the US PGA Tour's Players Championship, Daniel Chopra shot a 78 in the fourth round to finish tied 42nd with a tournament total of seven over 295.

Spaniard Sergio Garcia won the title by defeating American Paul Goydos in a playoff. The two had completed the regulation 72 holes with an identical total of five under 283.
