Jaya stir on price rise' a political drama says Congress
Chennai, May 12 (UNI) TNCC President M Krishnasamy today dubbed as politically motivated, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa's proposed stir against rise in prices of essential commodities.
Reacting to Ms Jayalalithaa's threat that the party would launch a nation-wide agitation, if the Centre failed to the check price rise, the Congress leader, in a statement here said this was nothing but an attempt to gain political mileage.
When the Centre had made it clear that the spiralling prices would be checked within 15 days, Ms Jayalalithaa had announced the agitation, only in a bid to pursue opportunistic politics, he charged.
Ms Jayalalithaa had no moral right to talk about price rise as she had indiscriminately raised the prices of milk and other essential commodities and hiked the bus fare, soon after coming to power in 2001, Mr Krishnasamy alleged.
Stating that price rise was a universal problem, he said the leaders of developed and developing countries were making their earnest efforts to curb the rise. Ms Jayalalithaa talking about price rise was like the ''devil quoting the scriptures'', he charged.
