Chandigarh, May 12 (UNI) Accusing the Congress government in Haryana of adopting unconstitutional and undemocratic tactics in the assembly byelections, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) today urged the Election Commission to take immediate notice of the ''autocratic and despotic attitude'' of the government.

In a statement issued here, INLD secretary general and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Singh Chautala accused the Congress of applying unfair means to pressurise the electorate.

He alleged the Congress had stooped very low and was using highly objectionable methods to garner support for its candidates in Adampur, Gohana and Indri constituenciencies wherein byelections would be held on May 22.

Mr Chautala claimed that the officers and government officials and their families in these three assembly constituencies were being pressurised by the government to work for the Congress candidates.

He said alleged even panches&Sarpanches belonging to INLD or supporting INLD were being hassled for supporting Congress party candidates. The Government officers were threatening the panches and sarpanches of taking some action or suspension, if they continued to support INLD.
