Gold, diamond jewellery worth more than Rs 6 crore seized
Mumbai, May 12 (UNI) Unaccounted gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs six crore was seized after a raid conducted by Income Tax sleuths on the business premises of a dry fruit merchant in the Metropolis, IT sources said here today.
The jewellery was seized from the bank locker of the merchant last week-end, Director General of Income Tax Investigation wing S S N Moorthy said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Investigation wing of the Income Tax Department conducted the raid. The total weight of gold and diamond studded jewellery was over 23 kgs.
The seizure, includes a diamond studded belt weighing more than 2.4 kgs, 20 diamond studded gold watches and 25 diamond studded gold pens of international companies, Mr Moorthy added.
