Patiala, May 12 (UNI) A five-member Indian boxing team will compete in the IABF invitational President's Cup slated for May 24 to June 1 in Taipei.
The team members are Jitender (51 kg), Akhil (54 kg), Lakra (57 kg), Vijender (75 kg) and Dinesh (81 kg). All the five boxers have qualified for Beijing Olympics.
From Taipei, the boxers will fly to Germany for training-cum- competition from June 2 to 22 where they will be joined by another bunch of five pugilists who are currently training at the NIS here.
The Indian boxers will also compete in Chemei Cup in Halle, Germany, which will be a dual meet.
Chief national boxing coach G S Sandhu and foreign expert from Cuba BI Fernandes, who will accompany the Indian boxing team to Taipei and Germany, said "we hope our boxers will get a good exposure which will help them to win a medal or two in Beijing Olympics." UNI XC PS JMK1436
