Chennai, May 12: Demanding extension of the ban on the proscribed LTTE, the Congress today urged the Tamil Nadu government to ban all outfits supporting it.

Speaking on the debate on demand for police grants, Congress Treasurer and CLP leader D Sudarsanam said there were reports of LTTE intrusion in Tamil Nadu and that arms and explosives were being smuggled to the outfit.

Urging the state government to deal with LTTE with an iron hand, he said the ban on the organisation, imposed in the aftermath of the of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination in 1991, is scheduled to expire.

''Considering the recent incidents of smuggling of arms and explosives to the LTTE, the Tamil Nadu government should recommend to the Centre that the ban on the proscribed outfit be extended,'' Mr Sudarsanam said.

He also demanded a ban on all organisations and parties which were supporting the LTTE. ''Several organisations are extending support to the LTTE by organising meetings and rallies.
