BJP demands that UPA talk 'strong' with Pakistan
New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) The BJP today expressed its serious concern over the terrorist incident in Samba in Jammu and Kashmir and asked the Government to take up the matter seriously with Pakistan and remind them of the 2004 joint statement in which Pakistan had assured it would not allow its soil to be used for terrorist camps.
Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was time the Government talked tough with Pakistan on the cross border terrorist issue. Terrorist attack on Samba cantonment, about 60 km from Jammu, was a serious matter, he added.
Pakistan must be reminded of the Joint Statement signed in 2004 by the two countries in which Pakistan had categorically assured that it would not promote any kind of cross border terrorism.
Six people, including a photo journalist, two army jawans and two women were killed during a 12-hour-long shootout in Samba in which the Army shot dead three fidayeen. BSF had claimed having foiled a ''major infiltration bid'' from the international border nearby on Thursday night.
