Shillong, May 12 (UNI) Director General of Assam Rifles (AR) Lt Gen Paramjit Singh today called upon commanders to continue their good work as well as carry out an honest and critical self-appraisal rather than boasting of their achievements.
Inaugurating a two-day AR Commanders' conference at its headquarters here, the Lt Gen remarked that the force had been able to achieve a good image for itself and the challenge faced by them was to sustain the same and live up to the expectations.
He called upon the commanders to be more adaptive in their style of command, in view of the changing aspirations of the soldiers in the present socio-economic milieu.
He emphasised on the need of drawing lessons from past experience in various fields and improving upon these aspects for better efficiency of the force, with the aim of living up to the bestowed title of ''Sentinels of North East'' and 'Friends of the Hill People''.
The conference was attended by AR Additional Director General Maj Gen Gurdeep Singh, Maj Gen K S Sethi, IGs of AR (North), Maj Gen B K Chengapa and South, Formation Commanders, Commanding officers and officers.
Besides, Formation and Battallion Commanders of the oldest paramilitary forces of the AR attended the conference, held to coordinate the smooth functioning of the forces, units and formation headquarters as also to examine the administrative and logistics aspects of the force.
