Narnabhai lays Foundation Stone for over-bridge in Kanpur

Kanpur, May 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways Naranbhai Rathwa today laid the foundation stone of Rs 30 crore over-bridge at G T road on Kanpur-Allahabad route here today.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Rathwa said there was no paucity of funds in railways for developmental work and the managing department was given permission to spent Rs 100 crore for the same without prior sanction from the ministry.

They just had to sent a fax apprising about the projects taken by them to the chairman of the railway board before initiating the work.

He said the department had four lakh hectares of surplus land, which could be alloted for commercial purpose.

There are 12,000 trains running on tracks throughout the country and more would be introduced in near future.

The Minister, further said the railway department has taken up modernisation work to replace old tracks.

Mr Rathwa, said the railways had decided to construct over and under-bridge in equal ratio in which the state government or the corporation have to pay there share. The National Highway corporation had to bear the construction cost of the bridges on their own, he added.

All the promises that were made in Union Railway Budget will be accomplished in this fiscal year, the Minister, adding that Kanpur-Kathgodam and kanpur-Jammu trains will also be on tracks in the current financial year.
