Maruti's Swift crosses two lakh unit in sales

New Delhi, May 11: Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki's today said its highly popular model 'Swift', launched three years ago, has crossed two lakh units sales milestone.

''Swift is now the fastest selling car model in India, completing the two-lakh units sales mark in less than 36 months,'' a company official said. Swift was launched in petrol variant on May 25, 2005 followed by the diesel variant in January 2007. The company sold 51,766 vehicles in the domestic market (all categories) during April 2008, an increase of 22.30 per cent over the corresponding year's sale. The figures included a sale of 9,490 units of 'Swift', the highest for the model in a single month.
