Committees formed to check drug addiction and trafficking in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 11 (UNI) Taking a lead among all districts in Jammu and Kashmir to curb drug addiction and its trafficking, the district administration in Bandipora in north Kashmir has decided to constitute committees to launch a vigorous drive against the menace.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, concerned over the menace, stressed the need for taking practical measures to check the spreading evil.
A tehsil level committee would be set up to launch a vigorous drive against trafficking of narcotics, he said.
It would be headed by Block Medical officers to conduct survey of drug addiction in their respective blocks.
Seeking help from all walks of life, he appealed to people to immediately inform the authorities about drug addiction and its related activities in their areas.
Religious, social and political parties have expressed their concern over the drug addition, particularly among the youths in the valley.
