Accountant shot dead, Rs 36 lakh looted
Panipat, May 11 (UNI) Three motorcycle borne assailants shot dead an accountant of a private company and looted cash of Rs 36 lakh from him near Singhpura village in this district.
Sarvesh Pande, hailing from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh and working as accountant in the Proton company, was attacked yesterday when he was returning in a car along with three other employees of the company after drawing cash from a local branch of ICICI bank, police said.
The car was stopped forcibly by the miscreants who parked their motorcycle in front of the vehicle. Before looting the cash, one of the miscreants fired at Sarvesh Pande from the point blank range, killing him on the spot. When other occupants of the car tried to oppose, they were also threatened, police added.
A case under Sections 302 and 392 of IPC and under the Arms Act had been registered against the unidentified people.
The victim's body was brought at civil hospital here for post mortem. The police have alerted all police posts in the district to nab the criminals.
